Baptist Heart Transplant Program Under StrainApril 10, 2007 | Thibault WorthLast November, the Federal government warned Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center that it was not performing enough heart transplants. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services, or CMS, says transplant centers must perform a certain number of operations for surgeons to maintain their skills. But the situation has exposed long-standing problems with the nation's small transplant centers. WFDD's Thibault Worth reports.
