The Honorable Togo D. West, Jr. is a former U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Secretary of the Army under the President Bill Clinton.
Under President Jimmy Carter, he was General Counsel of the Navy, later the Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense, and then General Counsel of the Department of Defense. And under President Gerald R. Ford he was Associate Deputy Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice.
This weekend he’ll be at his home church --St. Stephen's Episcopal Church celebrating its 100th anniversary.
The Honorable Togo D. West, Jr. is now a consultant in the private sector and Chairman of TLI Leadership Group.
He also serves on several corporate boards including that of Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation, AbitibiBowater, Inc and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
WFDD’s Kathryn Mobley spoke with West earlier.
The Centennial Celebration will culminate with a rededication service on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with The Right Rev. Michael B. Curry, Bishop of the Diocese of North Carolina as celebrant. The church is located at 810 N. Highland Avenue. Banquet ticket information is available at 336 724-2614.
