Several local businesses were honored Wednesday afternoon for their commitment to provide best ethical practices to their customers and the community.
Nearly 200 people attended the 12thannual Piedmont Business Ethics Awards banquet at the Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro on Wednesday .
Community members nominate the businesses for the honor, but students from local colleges and universities help the companies with the entry process.
A panel of professors and academic leaders from local colleges and universities makes the final decision.
Three companies were selected as winners from a pool of ten finalists. The companies range in size and service. This year’s winners are Zaki’s Oriental Rugs, Graphic Visual Solutions and R & R Transportation Incorporated in Greensboro.
Excel Moving and Storage also received an honorable mention.
During the event, Greensboro Mayor Robbie Perkins proclaimed this week as Business Ethics Week in the city. He says high ethical standards are important in all aspects of the community.

The winners of the 2012 Piedmont Business Ethics Awards will qualify for the Society of Financial Service Professionals awards in Pennsylvania later this year.
