Triad 911 Survivor Reflects On Death of Osama bin Laden

May 2, 2011 | Kathryn Mobley

August 'Gus' Preshel says one of his worst nightmares is finally over.

For more than 30 years, he worked at the Twin Towers Complex in New York City. He held numerous management positions.

Then on September 11, 2001, while Gus worked in Tower 1, a highjacked plane struck it. He narrowly escaped. Later, he helped
to stabilize the complex.

Gus has since retired and now lives in Clemmons with his wife, Linda.

Two years ago, he joined WFDD's General Manager Denise Franklin as a guest on Voices & Viewpoints and shared his experiences.

Earlier Monday, Gus spoke with WFDD's Kathryn Mobley and described his immediate reactions to news reports that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is dead.
