The Education Equation, Part 1

High school dropouts cost the nation 944 billion dollars a year in lost tax revenue. In our state, that amount is 169 million dollars.

This information is based on research from the Education Week Research Center. It's a nonprofit that conducts annual education policy surveys nationwide. They also report that people who fail to receive a high school diploma are only qualified for 12 percent of available jobs.

Yet despite these glaring statistics, some high school students still choose to quit school. WFDD's LeShea Agnew visited a high school in High Point working hard to help at-risk students graduate.
