Rekindling the American Dream

In his 1933 book The Epic of America, James Truslow Adams defined the American Dream as being a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone ... with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.  

What's become of that dream is the focus of two events at Wake Forest University this week.  Tonight (Wed., Oct. 10 at 6 p.m.), Time magazine columnist Joe Klein will speak in Wait Chapel about what he learned about the American dream during his travels across the country.  Tomorrow a symposium combining politics and music will explore the past, present and future of the American Dream.  (Thurs., Oct. 11, 9:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.)  

Symposium organizers, Patricia Dixon - senior lecturer in music - and political science professor David Coates, spoke with WFDD's Audrey Fannin about why the American Dream needs rekindling.
