Proposal for Farm Subsidies ReductionMarch 24, 2009 | Peter GranitzFor months, President Barack Obama's economic team has looked into a broad range of areas where the federal government needs to reduce expenditures.
One of those areas is farm subsidies. President Obama says he wants to cut subsidies to farmers who earn more than 500-thousand dollars in annual sales. An estimated 81-thousand commercial farmers nationwide would loose their payments.
And this proposal has some North Carolina lawmakers upset. peter Granitz looks at the legislation from Capitol hill and how it may affect farmers in our area.
