On Monday, nearly 2,000 people gathered at West Wilkes High School in Millers Creek, N.C. to hear President Barack Obama.
His visit is part of a two-day bus tour promoting the American Jobs Act. The tour began in Asheville and concludes in Jamestown. This also marks the third time President Obama has visited North Carolina.
WFDD's Keri Brown reports the President is now urging North Carolinians to contact their congressional leaders to help pass parts of this legislation.
But Rob Lockwood, president of the North Carolina Republican party, says this bill is not in the best interest of residents in our state because there are too many areas that have not been really paid for. He also says raising taxes on the wealthy will not stabilize our economy. Lockwood does admit both parties agree taxes on small business owners need to be reduced.
