Monday afternoon, October 17th, President Barack Obama spoke to hundreds in Miller's Creek, North Carolina. In the gymnasium at West Wilkes High School, the President said North Carolinians have sacrificed for too long and deserve to have jobs that enable them to take care of their families.
President Obama's visit to the state is part of an effort to gain public support for his American Jobs Act.
Rob Lockwood, the president of the North Carolina Republican Party, says even though the two parties are sometimes at odds, both sides do agree on some aspects of President Obama's proposals. One is reduced taxes on small businesses.
Tuesday, October 18th, at 11 a.m., the President is scheduled to speak at Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown. Beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, several roads in the area will be closed in preparation for President Obama's visit. These include Guilford College Road, High Point Road, East Bonner Road, Millis Road and Stanford Road.
