While corn-based ethanol can only displace a fraction of our petroleum use, other types of biomass hold promise to replace much more. Cellulosic ethanol is a fuel of the future that can be made from wood, corn stalks, and potentially even furniture waste. Thibault Worth reports on how North Carolina could play a big role in developing and even producing this fuel.
