One Dollar Does Go a Long WaySeptember 23, 2009 | LeShea AgnewThere's a popular saying...No one can stretch a dollar further than a college student. And for thousands of college students in the Triad, that saying couldn't be closer to the truth.
According to The Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation or PART--each month about 4 thousand college students use public buses to travel back and forth to their college campuses. The decision means more money in their pockets.
WFDD's LeShea Agnew hopped on a few of the frequently used bus routes and learns first hand from students....one dollar does go a long way.
Student fares for one-way trips are just one dollar. For all other riders, one-way fares are two dollars.
PART receives stimulus and grant monies from the Federal Government's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Recently PART received 1.5 million dollars to expand bus services in Forsyth County and 1.3 million dollars for bus terminals and routes in Davie County.
