NC Gov. Perdue pushes NC Education, Regenerative MedicineNovember 16, 2009 | Governor Beverly Perdue is in the Triad today...talking Education and Regenerative Medicine.
This morning she visited Grimsley High School and spoke with students...encouraging them to think in terms of seeing themselves as global job seekers. Which means they need learn more about other cultures, become multilingual and take advantage of opportunities to travel abroad.
She also stressed the importance of applying to college.
Earlier this year...Perdue and state lawmakers didn't endear themselves to school leaders by approving a state budget that required school districts to cut 225-million dollars in grades 4-12.
Many districts used federal stimulus funds to keep teachers and other key personnel employed.
This afternoon...Perdue will be in Winston-Salem at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine.
She's expected to announce the creation of an innovation council for our state and someone from Winston-Salem will be tapped to join this group.
