The new facility at High Point University will take up two city blocks off Fifth Street. University officials made the announcement on Thursday.
The project is needed to accommodate the school's growing enrollment. Chris Dudley, Vice President and Chief of Staff at the school said undergraduate student enrollment is expected to reach 5,000 by 2015.
“It will actually be two buildings, each four and a half story stories and the complex together will accommodate about 400 students and it will be a mixed use facility,” said Dudley.
Dudley said in addition to student housing, the facility will contain a recreation center, dining facilities and several other student services.
He says construction on the new housing complex is expected to begin in June and be completed in 2013.
