Greensboro Underpass Gets Colorful Facelift

April 19, 2012 |

One area of Greensboro is getting a colorful facelift. Three members of Primary Flight are painting a vivid mural on the Spring Garden Street underpass, one of the entrances into the Downtown Greenway.

Street artist Chris Oh is one of the founders of Primary Flight, a Miami-based, global network of street artists.  They’re revitalizing neighborhoods using paintings, murals and environmentally friendly sculptures.  Oh says the goal of Primary Flight is to make art more accessible to all people. The non-profit began in 2005, with grants, donations and sponsors coveing project costs including art supplies, equipment and travel expenses.

Oh says the project in Greensboro will brighten up an area that's been ignored. "We are creating a mural on the highway support structures using bright colors, several shades of green, blue, red, orange. Almost the whole spectrum."

The mural will be protected with a UV and an anti-graffiti coating. Oh estimates this project will be completed in 2-3 weeks.
