Greensboro Group Host Domestic Violence VigilJune 26, 2012 | Tomorrow evening, one Greensboro group will host a candlelight vigil against domestic violence. The Sherri Denese Jackson Foundation for the Prevention of Domestic Violence will host its third annual event. It will be held at 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
In June 2008, the body of 27-year-old Jackson was found buried in the backyard of where her ex-boyfriend once lived. DeCarlo Rayshaun Bennett confessed and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. He's serving a 13 to 16 year prison sentence.
The foundation provides workshops for teens on safe dating to empower women in abusive relationships.
