Graduation No Longer Just a DreamJune 3, 2010 | LeShea AgnewEvery school year in Forsyth County, about 800 youth drop out. And nearly 100 are expelled or are on long-term suspension. This according to Winston-Salem Forsyth County school officials.
Per the school system's policy, once a student is repeatedly released from their school either because of behavior or academic challenges, they're not allowed to return.
That's where the Winston-Salem Street School comes in. It's an alternative school for at risk youth.
Wednesday night, the school graduated its Class of 2010. WFDD's LeShea Agnew attended the celebration many of the graduates believed would never happen.
