Arts for Life is changing lives one guitar strum, paint stroke, and stanza at a time. Their CD My Life is Bold contains 14 original compositions by an all-star cast of musicians, and they're set to poems written by young Arts for Life patients.

The Asheville based trio Red June is heading to the Triad this week for a special outdoor CD release party and concert. The bluegrass, beer and BBQ event is Thursday night, June 5, at 6:00pm at Reynolda House in Winston-Salem. Red June is John Cloyd Miller on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Natalya Weinstein on fiddle and vocals, and David's guest today, Winston-Salem native Will Straughan on guitar and vocals. Will played for years in the Emma Gibbs band before moving to the mountains. Red June’s new CD is Beauty Will Come.

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts and the Keenan Institute for the Arts have teamed up to create a new summer program that celebrates the music of the American South.
Music Academy of the American South on the UNCSA campus and Old Salem Museums & Gardens grounds will feature dynamic performances and workshops by a slew of noted international, national, and regional artists from Friday, June 8, through Sunday, June 10.
Among the artists participating in this inaugural year are The Del McCoury Band, Jim Lauderdale, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and Tony Price.
