Triad Stage presents Igor Stavinsky\'s Soldier\'s Tale (Part 2)

April 18, 2012

When you think of the great chamber music works that pair music with narration, the Russian’s have it: Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, and Igor Stravinsky’s Soldier’s Tale. But even established classical warhorses and chestnuts occasionally need a little sprucing up, and who better to make that call than Russian conductor, violinist and arranger Dmitry Sitkovetsky? His relationship with Soldier’s Tale is decades old, his arrangements have been performed and recorded by some of today’s leading ensembles, and, it turns out that the ground is quite fertile for a Soldier’s Tale make-over.

Coming up Friday night, April 27 at 8:00pm in the UpStage Cabaret of Triad Stage in Greensboro, you can hear Dmitry’s exciting new arrangement of the Stravinsky classic, with added music, new text, and a more theatre-friendly approach altogether. It’s an all-star cast too, with violinist Dmitry Sitkovetsky, pianist Inara Zandmane, clarinetist Kelly Burke, narrator Robert Wells, and Andrew Plotnikov performing the role of “Soldier”.

This is part 1 of Dmitry's conversation with TAUC host David Ford. Hear part 2 on Wednesday, April 18, beginning at 8:50am.
