Triad Arts with David Ford Touring Theatre of North Carolina presents Ole Fred (Encore)March 21, 2012
Today's Triad Arts Up Close originally aired on October 7, 2010.
Touring Theatre of North Carolina Producing Artistic Director Brenda P. Schleunes talks about the challenges, joys and learning moments she experienced in writing Ole Fred Speaks of Family. It's a short dramatic presentation based on the poetry and prose of the 2010 John Tyler Caldwell Award for the Humanities winner, former North Carolina Poet Laureate Fred Chappell.
Touring Theatre of North Carolina is proud to announce the second production in its Kinfolk Series. It’s a collection of sometimes humorous, always profound, stories about families drawn from some of the finest in Southern Literature. April’s adaptation of Lee Smith’s Tongues of Fire is a story of teen-age dislocation and bewilderment when a middle-class family’s circumstances spin out of control. Tongues of Fire is rich in detail, comic yet dark, and filled with references to music. It opens April 11th and will run through the 14th at 8:00pm with a Sunday matinee on the 15th at 2 in the UpStage Cabaret at Triad Stage 232 South Elm Street in Greensboro.
