America Singers\' Opera Project

The American Singers’ Opera Project (ASOP) kicked off on Tuesday, June 5th with an art song benefit concert sung by Artistic Director, and American soprano Barbara DeMaio Caprilli, and Wake Forest University Associate Professor of Music, and lyric tenor Richard Heard. On Saturday, June 9 at 7:30pm, and Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm it’s Opera Arias performed in Brendle Recital Hall on the Wake campus by 22 talented ASOP singers from as far away as Canada. On June 14 through the16 opera lovers will enjoy ASOP’s production of Verdi’s Falstaff with full chamber orchestra and members of the Winston-Salem Symphony. On Tuesday’s recital the audience was treated to music by Respighi and others sung by Barbara, and Richard delighted with unique selections by early 20th century African American composer Florence Price. Next week he’ll be releasing an entire CD of Price’s music.
