Remembering Dr. King

January 15, 2007

Today across the nation, the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. are being celebrated. Guest commentator Dr. Carlton A.G. Eversley says he never personally met the civil rights leader, but he says Dr. King strongly influenced people who would later become key figures in his own life. They passed on Dr. King's passionate vision of social inclusion. And the rippling effect ultimately prepared Dr. Eversley to join the fight against oppression.

Dr. Carlton A.G. Eversley is the Senior Pastor of Dellabrook Presbyterian Church, Adjunct Professor of African-American Studies at Winston-Salem State University and Wake Forest University Divinity School, and the Project Director of Project Teach - a program promoting teaching excellence in American civic history.
