Real People, Real Stories Education\’s Dimming StarOctober 14, 2012StoryLine gives voice to everyday people throughout our community as they share the experiences that shape their lives. It is a project of the ECHO network and is made possible by the generosity of Salemtowne, a continuing care retirement community, where every life shines and stories are celebrated.
In the 1930’s, Dr. Virginia Newell attended segregated schools in Winston-Salem. Today, she explains to Dan Andrews III her concerns that while African Americans have made a number of advancements over the years, their value of education is moving in the wrong direction.
