Real People, Real Stories Backpack BeginningsJuly 31, 2011StoryLine gives voice to everyday people throughout our community as they share the experiences that shape their lives. Guilford County resident Parker White is founder of the county’s Backpack Beginnings Program. In 2010, she partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank to establish it. Each weekend, this program sends backpacks filled with food home with more than 150 children who are in need. The children attend five different public schools in Guilford County. In this StoryLine segment, Parker explains her personal motivation to creating Backpack Beginnings. StoryLine is a project of the ECHO network and is made possible by the generosity of Salemtowne, a continuing care retirement community, where every life shines and stories are celebrated.
