Words Awake! Celebrates Wake Forest Writers and Writing
March 22, 2012 | David Ford
This weekend a very unusual gathering will take place on the campus of Wake Forest University. Forty of some of the country's most celebrated writers will be in Winston-Salem to pay tribute to the written word with workshops, panels and readings from March 23-25 during Words Awake! They are novelists, biographers, journalists, screenwriters, poets and hip hop artists, and each one of them calls Wake Forest University their Alma Mater.
From sports reporting to science writing to literary fiction, these noteworthy writers from around the country will talk about their work with school children, college students and community members. All events are free and open to the public.
CORRECTION: The author of Dovey Coe is Frances O'Roarke Dowell, and not Frances O'Roarke as named in this feature.
