WFU Baseball Coach Tom Walter Donates Kidney To Freshman Player Kevin Jordan
February 8, 2011 | Jeff Tiberii
A Wake Forest University baseball coach and one of his players are doing well after a lifesaving kidney transplant. Tuesday afternoon, Coach Tom Walter and Freshman Kevin Jordan are out of intensive care and resting comfortably in Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Doctors performed the surgery Monday.
Last year when Jordan was a high school senior, doctors diagnosed him with ANCA vasculitis. It is a type of autoimmune swelling caused by abnormal antibodies that attack one's own cells and tissues.
WFDD's Jeff Tiberii spoke with Assistant Coach Dennis Healy for the latest on these two men.
