University Parkway to Get UpgradeJune 2, 2010 | David FordA section of University Parkway near 20th Street in Winston-Salem is being prepared for closure for more than two months. The nearby bridge there has seen better days, and North Carolina Department of Transportation Division 9 Engineer Pat Ivey says it's time for it to go.
The new construction is scheduled to begin June 7th. According to Ivey, the DOT has been working closely with the city to adjust traffic patterns and set up appropriate detours for the construction period.
The $633,000 price tag will leave behind a safer bridge - but Ivey says the changes may not be so apparent to the naked eye.
