U.S. Congressman Howard Coble Returns to Washington, D.C.

November 7, 2012 | Kathryn Mobley

U.S. Congressman Howard Coble is headed back to Washington, D.C. Tuesday night, he retained his seat in the House for North Carolina's 6th District. The Republican has held this post since 1985.

Last night, he thanked supporters at the GOP Guilford County Headquarters on West Market Street in Greensboro. Then he spoke with WFDD's Senior Producer Kathryn Mobley and described his district as being new terriority.

"It's a drastically changed district geographically. I've lost four of the six counties I represent today and will represent through the end of the year. They are Surry, Stokes, Rockingham, Caswell, Person. All of these border Virginia. And then portions of Durham, Orange and Grandville. There are more Democratics than Republicans in these areas, bad news for me even though my Mom and Dad were Democrats. The good news however, is that idealogically the new district is conservative."

Congressman Coble also believes his win came because Democrats in his district were disillusioned by President Barack Obama's failure to deliver a stronger economy and more jobs.
