One of the elephants killed a man. Other people were injured-- reportedly while trying to escape. The elephants also damaged property throughout the area.
The Chief Veterinarian at the North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro is an expert in elephant land use patterns. WFDD’s Kathryn Mobley spoke with Dr. Mike Loomis who also works in Cameroon Africa and is working on the challenge of humans and wild animals living harmoniously in the same environment.
