Teaching Financial ABC'sAugust 3, 2010 | Kathryn MobleyOur children go to school to learn how to read, write and even how to drive. But where do they go to learn effective money management?
The American Library Association (ALA) is inviting libraries across the nation to create programs that teach young people how to skillfully handle money in terms of budgeting, saving and investing.
The Greensboro Central Public Library is one of 30 libraries accepting this challenge. It has developed a program called Future Cents: Smart Money Starts Here. The ALA has given the library a $96,500 grant to fund it. This program is open to youth in Greensboro and High Point through 2011.
WFDD's Kathryn Mobley visited one of the program's hands-on classes teaching the financial ABC's.
