Small Triad Lab May Have Big National Impact

July 9, 2010 | Kathryn Mobley

It's 50 days and counting since thousands of gallons of oil began spilling into the Gulf of Mexico. Now, BP crews plan to replace the leaky containment cap with a new one. They're also bringing in a ship that's supposed to collect oil from a different part of the ruptured pipeline. If all goes well, the combination will capture all of the oil. But it'll take 3 to 4 days before crews are sure if this works. Meanwhile the oil is moving inland, soiling beaches, invading marshlands and endangering wildlife.
