Shoppers Eyeing Deals For Cyber Monday

November 26, 2012 | Keri Brown

On Cyber Monday, millions of people will be looking online for holiday deals. Kathy McBride of Wilmington and Brittany Shermer of Madison are planning on taking advantage of the web-based sales.

“We will be getting electronic gadgets, games  and stuff on cyber Monday. That is what we usually work on. I want a computer so we will be looking for that . Midnight again! We don't sleep much for 48 hours.”

According to the National Retail Federation, in 2012 online holiday sales are expected to grow 12%, to $96 billion. On average, each person will do more than a third of their shopping online.

Joy of Winston-Salem says she hopes to pick up bargains on Cyber Monday that she couldn’t find in stores over the weekend.

“I shop on-line because it’s easy. I don't have to fight the crowds and it comes to my door and I get much better deals. It’s much easier to do. Yes. Absolutely!”

Some economists say this year, they expect about 90% of retailers to offer great online sales for Cyber Monday.
