Unauthorized access at two clinics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro has exposed the information of 2,500 individuals.

According to a release by the university, the computer breaches took place at the Speech and Hearing Center and the Psychology Clinic.

The breaches were detected by staff in June and since then the university says it has mailed letters to possibly exposed clients.

The compromised computers were used for billing and contained records for people who received services at the clinics since the late 1990's. The data included names, addresses, social security numbers, dates of births and diagnosis codes.

The university encourages individuals who utilized services at the two clinics to review account statements and monitor credit reports for suspicious activity.
