Portions of Interstate 40 in Greensboro Closed this Weekend

April 10, 2010 | LeShea Agnew

State work crews will close a portion of Interstate 40 in Greensboro so they can connect the highway to a new bridge. All eastbound traffic between Mile Marker 218 and 220 will be funneled into one lane and all eastbound lanes will be closed until 6 a.m. Monday. During the weekend, eastbound traffic will take Exit 218-A to U.S. 220 south to Exit 78 and Interstate 85 north. Interstate 85 will merge back with eastbound I-40 east of Greensboro. Traffic that needs access to the Greensboro area should exit northbound I-85 at S. Elm-Eugene St. and follow that road to I-40. Westbound lanes will not be affected.
