Plane Crash Near PTI Takes Two Lives, Shakes a Neighborhood

March 31, 2011 | Jeff Tiberii

According to law enforcement officials, the pilot made contact with the airport tower minutes before the crash. The site of the wreck is about two miles, through the air, from the landing strip at PTI. It's about a quarter mile off of Sandy Ridge Road.

On the ground, there are not believed to be any additional fatalities or injuries. Last night WFDD's Jeff Tiberii spoke with Carl Hall. He lives across the street from the accident site and heard the crash from inside his home.

Four homes were evacuated following the crash.
