Non-profits Hit Hard by Gas PricesJune 25, 2008 | LeShea AgnewAccording to AAA Carolinas, since Easter, gas prices have jumped 51 cents a gallon in the state and continue to set record high prices daily. In the Triad, as the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas inches closer to four dollar, consumers are feeling it in the pocket. And now non-profit organizations are feeling the strain as they attempt to maintain and recruit volunteers. Meals on Wheels of Forsyth County is one non-profit struggling to service a full roster of clients with fewer volunteers. WFDD's LeShea Agnew says the group is relying on the commitment of it's remaining volunteers to feed the triad's hungry.
