According to the new system, elementary school days will operate from 7:45am-2:25pm. Allen, Guilford Jackson, Kiser and Mendenhall middle schools will run 8:10am-3:05pm. The remaining middle schools and high schools will operate daily from 8:55am-3:50pm.

Most magnet schools, high schools and alternative schools will continue with the same bus schedule next year. The school board was asked to consider a new multi-tier schedule to reduce transportation operating costs and increase efficiency.

The new schedule will save the school system between $700,000 and 1.3 million dollars and the Transportation Department will be able to remove up to 43 buses from service.

Guilford County schools transport 41,231 students on 624 school buses to and from school daily.
