New Nighttime Parking Fees in Greensboro

April 9, 2012 |

There will be a new fee for nighttime parking in Greensboro's downtown decks. The City of Greensboro is ending its free night parking in the Bellemeade, Church, Davie and Greene Street parking decks.

This month, city crews are installing 'Pay N Lane' machines, which will charge a $2 flat-rate fee for entrance to those parking decks after 9 p.m.  Exit gates will open automatically when drivers leave the decks.

City Parking Operations Manager Robin Davenport explains money collected will enable the city to take better care of its four decks.

"The new rates will cover improved cleanliness of the decks, removing trash and pressure washing - also, increased security and enhanced lighting," explains Davenport.

According to Davenport, motorists with monthly parking permits will be able to use their access card in this system.

The 'Pay N Lane' machines are commonly used nationwide at airports and other large parking facilities. According to Davenport the new ticketless system does requires exact change.

Greensboro has a total of 2,800 downtown parking spaces.
