Gov. Bev Perdue announced today (Tuesday) that Central States Manufacturing Inc., a metal manufacturing facility, will open in Mount Airy, creating 45 new jobs in Surry County,
WXII on line is reporting that the company manufactures metal building products for commercial and residential customers.
The company said it plans to invest $4.5 million in the new facility, which will be located in Mount Airy.
Not including benefits, the new jobs will pay an average annual wage of more than $40,000, about $12,000 more than Surry County's current average.
Donna Leger, president of Central States Manufacturing, said she's optimistic about the transition to North Carolina, and couldn't be more pleased with the selection of Mount Airy as the company's fifth plant site.
