New Furniture Trends

October 21, 2010 | Kathryn Mobley

The High Point Furniture Market wrapped up its fall show on Thursday. This was the 101st edition of the market and it is expected to have a $1 billion impact on the area. Each fall and spring, the market draws about two thousand manufacturers, retailers and designers from all over the world. And features about 12 million square feet of showroom space.

WFDD's Kathryn Mobley spoke with New York designer Gale Steves who attended the market. For 10 years, she was editor and chief of Home Magazine.

Steves now runs Open House Productions in New York. She's also the author of Right Sizing Your Home. A book that helps people combine the furnture they have with new items to create comfortable living environments.

Steves says the global furniture industry is in transition.
