The North Carolina Department of Transportation is planning some major construction projects over the next few years in Winston-Salem.
The $89.1 million project includes a new one mile, four lane road from Martin Luther King Jr. Drive south of Winston-Salem State University to the Piedmont Triad Research Park. A new interchange will be constructed at U.S. 52, and the current interchange at Rams Drive (formally Stadium Drive) will be removed.
A public meeting will follow at 7 p.m. in Dillard Auditorium. The DOT will accept public comment through February 14.
Construction on the Salem Creek Connector is expected to begin in the fall.
Dara Demi, Lead Communications Officer for the NCDOT, said the department will host an open house to gather public comment and answer questions about the construction projects. It's scheduled for Monday, January 30, from 4-6 p.m. at Winston-Salem State University’s McNeil Banquet Hall in the Anderson Center.
