NC Zoo happy about Asheboro alcohol salesAugust 5, 2008 | Kathryn MobleyThe sale of alcohol is now legal in the city of Asheboro. Last week the city council and voters passed the referendum.
Now officials at the North Carolina Zoo say this move will help it expand. Techically, the zoo is outside the city limits and could legally serve alcohol, but Director Dr. David Jones says the zoo has chosen to only serve alcohol during special evening events to maintain good relations with Asheboro officials and residents.
