More Details Released in Pleasant Garden Murder-Suicide

January 10, 2012 | Keri Brown

Authorities have released more information about the tragic Pleasant Garden shooting rampage that left five children dead in November, 2011.

Guilford County Sheriff B.J. Barnes said ballistic tests show that the same handgun was used to kill six people and wound a seventh in a series of shootings in November.

Police said Mary Ann Holder, 36, was the only person who shot five children, including two of her own, and then killed herself. Holder also shot and wounded her married lover.

Barnes says the murder weapon was found in Holder's hand inside her SUV parked on Remora Road, where she fatally shot one of her sons and herself. The other shootings took place at the GTCC Aviation Center and her home on Remora Road.

But authorities say an extensive investigation has been unable to determine a clear motive in the shooting rampage.

The sheriff said a few more test results are expected from the state Medical Examiner's Office, but Barnes doesn't expect them to make significant changes to the findings of the investigation.
