A Tennessee man faces multiple charges after a drug investigation closed two lanes of Interstate 40 in Greensboro for several hours Monday morning.
Greensboro police say officers saw a pickup truck weaving through traffic around 6 a.m., and pulled it over after a plate check determined that the vehicle had been stolen. A statement from the Greensboro police says law enforcement agents found evidence of illicit drug activity in plain sight. Suspecting a "mobile meth lab," hazmat crews, fire crews and SBI agents were then called to the scene. They found anhydrous ammonia and lithium - two other ingredients in methamphetamine - in the truck.
The investigation took place near Wendover Avenue, and the two right lanes were closed from there to Patterson Street until just before 1 in the afternoon. Forty-three year old Tracy Gaylor of Heiskell, TN, faces a number of charges, including maintaining a vehicle for keeping a controlled substance.
