Lights, Camera, Action Come to Graham

November 1, 2011 |

This month, parts of Graham will be the backdrop for the new comedy drama, Arthur Newman, Golf Pro. It stars Academy Award winner Colin Firth and Emily Blunt. The film is about a man who hates his job and who is hated by his ex-wife and son. So he stages his death and takes on the new identity, Authur Newman. Along the way he meets a woman named Mike, played by Blunt, who is also fleeing her past. Vice President of the Burlington/Alamance County Convention and Visitors Bureau Robert Cox says the economic benefits of this production project will be felt beyond Graham. He says the director found a location they say is perfect for this movie. The 3-day shoot is expected to begin later this month. Earlier this year, Firth received an Academy Award for his portrayal of King George VI in The King's Speech. Co-star Blunt is well known for her role in The Devil Wears Prada. In 2007, she won a Golden Globe Award for her work on the BBC television drama, Gideon's DaughterArthur Newman, Golf Pro will also shoot parts of the film in the Raleigh-Durham and Wilmington areas.
