The Business ReportJoey Cheek 4.0October 7, 2011 | David FordAfter nearly fifteen years of devoting his entire youth to becoming the world's fastest skater, Joey Cheek finally won Olympic gold at the 2006 Winter Games in Turin, Italy. It was there that the Greensboro native famously donated his prize money to draw attention to the war raging in Darfur.
He eventually raised more than $1.5 million for that cause before heading off to college as a 28 year old freshman. Cheek hit the lecture circuit giving corporate speeches that blended his newly acquired Princeton economics education with an Olypian's insight into how to succeed. Three months ago Cheek launched a new chapter in his evolution with a unique sports blog DailyHouse.com.
Last week, former executive editor of The Business Journal and now a periodic contributor Justin Catanoso sat down with Cheek for an update. Justin shares what he learned with WFDD's David Ford. Full archive of The Business Report >>
