Romney won the state and its 15 electoral votes Tuesday, four years after President Barack Obama picked up a surprise win for the Democrats by 14,000 votes.  

So Triad Republicans are thrilled. Add to the fact they put Pat McCrory in the governor's mansion. And it's this win that is making many Guilford County Republicans more determined to move into the White House.

Last night they watched Mitt Romney concede defeat to President Barkack Obama at the GOP Headquarters on West Market Street. A handful of volunteers of all ages cried, hugged and consoled each other. But they say over all they have a lot of reason to be proud.

"My name is Erin Greenwood and I live in Greensboro. I think we did fantastic in the local races. North Carolina was red this year and that was our job and we accomplished that."

For the next few weeks Guilford County volunteers will clean up from the 2012 campaings and then they say they'll begin crafting a new public image. 

"My name is Stephen Kent, Greensboro in Guilford County. I think the Republican Party has fallen victim to being unable to say they care about people. And I think the sooner we can come across as the party that cares about people we'll be a better party and better future for this country."
