Police said Holder was having an affair with 40 year-old Randall Lamb. Holder shot Lamb in the shoulder in a parking lot at the Piedmont Triad Airport. Police said Lamb went home after the shooting where his wife called 911.

Sheriff BJ Barnes said Holder left notes taking responsibility for the shootings before shooting herself to death.

“This was a domestic situation. There was an alienation of affection lawsuit that had been filed. There was also a 50B that had been filed by the suspect against Mr. and
Mrs. Lamb, so we have a domestic situation here that has definitely gone bad,” said Barnes,

Authorities said besides killing Suttles and her son 17-year-old Robert Dylan Smith, Holder also shot her nephew, her younger son, and Dylan's girlfriend in the head.

14 year-old Zachary Lee Smith, 15 year-old Makayla Leigh Woods, and 17 year-old
Richard "Ricky" Brian Suttles, are all in critical condition at Moses Cone Hospital.

Thomas Ward lives two houses down from the home where the shootings occurred. He watched in horror Sunday morning as emergency officials removed the injured children from their house. Ward said his quiet, middle class community will never be the same.

“Yes, I knew the kids, Zack especially. He was a good kid and as far as I know the rest of them were good folks . We came home church and this happened and this is
absolutely devastating and I just don’t understand why things like that would happen. I just pray for the kids that are still with us and hope that they make recovery and can get over this,” said Ward.

Hannahleigh attended Pleasant Grove Elementary. The Smith brothers and Woods, each attended Southeast Guilford High School.

Guilford County school officials said grief counselors are in place at the schools.
