Gang Leader Wants Public Office

July 24, 2009 | Caron Myers

A North Carolina gang leader is vying for a new post - that of Greensboro City Council.

Jorge Cornell, known on the street as "King-J" the Inca of the almighty Latin King and Queen nation, is one of 11 people who have announced their candidacy for the three open at-large city council seats. This is his first time running for public office.

Last year Cornell called for peace among local gangs. He was also shot twice in 2008.

On Friday King-J broke his silence with the media for an exclusive interview with WFDD's Caron Myers.
