Dogs Rescued from Jones County Puppy Mill Recovering in Greensboro
March 20, 2012 |
Two dozen dogs are recovering in Guilford County. Last week, investigators rescued them from a puppy mill in a private home in Jones County where more than 80 small breed dogs were living in wired pens littered with feces. Most had matted fur and were malnourished.
Investigators say many of the dogs are ill. Guilford County Animal Shelter director Marsha Williams says they've received 24 dogs, whose ages range from one year old to 12. Williams also says some dogs are blind and several have deformed legs from old injuries that were never treated. She hopes they will go to families willing to have an animal with special needs.
At this time, no date has been set for the dogs' adoption availability.
