It was the first time black and white students joined forces for a common goal during the Civil Rights Movement in the ‘50’s and 60’s.
WFDD's LeShea Agnew spoke with one of the leaders of the protest and current Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education member, Victor Johnson Jr. as he recalls the events surrounding the historical sit-in.
After graduating from Winston-Salem State University, Victor Johnson Jr. went into a career of school administration. He’s served as principal at several high schools including Carver and North Forsyth. Johnson’s been on the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Board of Education since 1997 and represents the 1st District.
